The Town of Clayton, North Carolina Customer Spotlight

What method were you using to track your backflow records before BSI Online?

The Town of Clayton was priorly using another third-party backflow prevention database that did nothing other than store dataTheir staff had to process and mail letters, update testers and test kit information, and manually enter submitted tests. We spent more time doing administrative tasks than enforcing and making sure our water system was being protected.

What is your favorite feature on the current version of the BSI program?

My favorite feature is the BSI Online letter mailing service. With a staff of only myself, monthly letters would take several days to update and verify information, compile the letters, stuff, and mail. By the time all of that was completed, it was time to enter tests and start preparing the notice of violations for the previous month or send the second letters for the current month. Extremely time consuming!”

How has partnering with BSI Online improved your day-to-day job duties?

Partnering with BSI Online has streamlined every aspect of our day-to-day duties. We spent numerous hours preparing letters and entering in test results, now we do not have to worry about letters and test and can focus on compliance. Compliance has increased since we switched over to BSI Online and we average around 99 percent compliant every month.

Would you recommend BSI Online to other municipalities or water purveyors?

I will continue to recommend and have recommended BSI Online to many other local municipalities. We were one of the first in our region to switch and since then many others have followed our lead.

How has your experience been with the BSI staff?

The BSI staff has the absolute best customer service. They have taken all the guess work out of my job. Their knowledge of the program, what we as do as an industry, and customer service skills compliment every need we wanted to improve for the Town of Clayton and our customers. One of the main reasons we switched from our previous company was time zone differences. East Coast Customers and West Coast Time Zones are hard to manage and ultimately did not work out. BSI and the Town of Clayton have a one-hour time difference, yet we see no delays with communication. My team at BSI all deserve acknowledgement so I’m going to give credit where credit is due! From top to bottom Michelle, Katie, Melissa, Lauren, Bevin, Daisy, and Kayla are all phenomenal and great assets to our extended team here in Clayton, NC!
